Wide Spectrum Audio is a microphone mode brings every single sound into your ‌FaceTime‌ call, making it ideal for when you want the other person to hear everything that's happening in the space you're in. It significantly enhances call clarity and immersion by capturing and transmitting a broader range of sound frequencies picked up from your environment.

If you're a musician sharing a new piece with a friend over ‌FaceTime‌, it can ensure the subtle nuances of your performance are heard, from the softest notes to the surrounding ambience. Or if you're a family FaceTiming with loved ones, it enables everyone to share the full atmosphere of a celebration like a birthday party.

Here's how to enable it on iPhones and iPads running iOS 15 and later.

  1. Launch the FaceTime app and initiate a video call.
  2. Open Control Center with a diagonal swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen.
  3. Tap the Mic Mode button, top-right.
  4. Tap Wide Spectrum to enable it.
  5. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to dismiss Control Center and return to the call.

To disable Wide Spectrum and use Standard or Voice Isolation mode, simply repeat the above steps and choose one of the different options in the last menu.
